Having the kids at home for the holidays brings all sorts of food dilemmas. How do you provide nutritional meals to a gaggle of girls and a takeaway-loving teen without spending hours at the cooker? ‘It’s simple with our 21 tasty recipes,’ says Margaret (above). Thai noodle soup
Serves 4

  • Slice 4 mushrooms and 3 spring onions.
  • Put 700ml water in a large pan with 1 vegetable stock cube, 1 level tsp each Asda Easy Ginger and Easy Garlic (from jars), 1tbsp soy sauce and 1tbsp sweet chilli sauce and heat until boiling.
  • Add 1 bundle KS Free From Thai Rice Noodles, the mushrooms, spring onions and 326g canned Asda sweetcorn, drained. Bring back to the boil and simmer for 4 minutes.
  • Add a 280g pack Asda King Prawns and heat through. Spoon into four bowls and serve.
Burger in a bap
Serves 4

  • Grill 4 Asda 85g Beefburgers (from a 10-pack – you can freeze the rest) for 7-10 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking.
  • Serve the burgers in Asda Burger Buns with Asda Singles Cheese Slices, lettuce, sliced tomato and Asda Burger Relish or Tomato Ketchup.
  • Serve with a pile of cucumber sticks on the side – this is a healthy alternative to chips.
  • To make veggie burgers, replace the beefburgers with Asda Frozen Butternut Squash Quarter Pounders.
Home-made pot noodles
Serves 4-6

  • Cut 2 x 120g packs cooked topside of beef into strips (or use any leftover roasted meat). Put 2tbsp sunflower oil in a wok and heat for 1 minute.
  • Add a 450g pack Asda Rainbow Stir Fry Vegetables and cook over a high heat for 4 minutes, stirring all the time.
  • Add the beef and a 410g pack Asda Fresh Tastes Noodles and cook, stirring, for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 2 pouches Asda Fresh Tastes Sweet Chilli Stir Fry Sauce and heat until simmering. Spoon into four bowls and serve.

Serves 4

  • Cut 2 x 140g packs of ready-to-eat Asda Cooked Chicken Breasts into bite-size pieces. Mix with a sachet of Fajitas Seasoning (from an Asda Mexican Fajita Dinner Kit) until all the pieces are coated.
  • Deseed and slice 1 red and 1 yellow pepper, and slice 1 red onion. Heat 2tbsp oil in a large frying pan, add the onion and peppers, and fry for 4-5 minutes. Add the chicken and any excess fajita seasoning and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  • Heat the tortillas from the kit in the microwave. Arrange the chicken and veg in the tortillas and add the salsa (also from the kit). Roll up and serve with soured cream, if liked.
